Print design, ready for the printer

We design brochures, flyers, signage, labels, packaging and other printed material, and supply the files set up so a printer can run them.

What it is

Print design

Print design is design plus the technical edges.

Print design is the layout and artwork for anything that ends up on paper, board, vinyl or packaging. It has to look right, and it has to be set up correctly: bleed so colour runs past the cut, text inside a safe area, fonts embedded or outlined, images at the right resolution and colours prepared for print.

We build those edges in from the start and check each file before it goes out, so the printer receives artwork they can run without sending it back.

Questions

FAQ (05)

Print design, answered.

Something else you want to know? Send us an enquiry and we will answer it plainly.

(01)

What does print-ready mean?

The artwork has bleed so colour runs past the cut, text sits inside a safe area, fonts are embedded or outlined, images are the right resolution and colours are set up for print. We check each file before it goes out.

(02)

Can you design for print if we already have a logo?

Yes. We start from what you have. If the logo needs fixing so it prints cleanly at every size, we will tell you what and why before changing anything.

(03)

Do you do the printing as well?

Our work is the design and the files. We can supply files to the printer you already use, or help you brief a printer on stock, finish and quantity.

(04)

What file formats will we receive?

A print-ready PDF in the specification your printer asks for, plus the editable source files and any exports you need for web or social.

(05)

Can you match the colours of our existing printed material?

We can match to your brand colours and to a printed sample you supply, as closely as the print process allows. Colour on screen and colour on paper never match perfectly, and we explain the difference before you approve.
